Audacity is a open source and free sound recorder and editor.It is available for all the major OS including but not restricted to Linux, MAC and Windows.Audacity is a Great software for audio processing, editing and sound recording.

You can also create karaoke tracks from Audacity as follows.

1. Import the audio for which you need the vocal minimized, karaoke version.
2. Split the audio in stereo track by clicking “Split Stereo Track”.
3. Click near the “mute” and “solo” buttons near the left side track(below).
4. Click Effects-> Invert.
5. Now make both the tracks as “mono”.
6.Now you are done.

Not all songs will be perfect.But, this is the best way to get karaoke for free.
