<p style="text-align: left;">1.Open The Word Document that you want to assign with a password.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">2. Click on the Tools menu.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">3. Goto -&gt; options.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">4.Goto Security tab in the Options menu.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">5.There are two text fields namely</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #0000ff;">* password to open</span>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #0000ff;">* password to modify</span>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">As the name suggests <span style="color: #3366ff;">password to open</span> will need you to enter the password before opening and viewing the contents of the file, whereas<br />
<span style="color: #3366ff;">password to modify</span> will let others see the contents and will ask for the password if tried to alter or modify the contents.</p>
